Last Week of Jesus’ Life

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 12

The prearranged death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, the Son of God is questioned by those who think Christ got to the Garden of Gethsemane and got a case of doubts! To read the wording of the last message given His disciples before His crucifixion would clear that up in anyone’s mind if the preachers of our day quit telling this lie and teach the truth. The intent of Christ to return to the abode of the Deity is convincingly mentioned in the fourth verse of John 17; “And now, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.” Doxazo is the Greek word He used and it means to cause the dignity and worth of a person to be known and acknowledged. God, the Father glorified His Son when He raised Him from the dead mocking the Hadean realm and all they who had participated in the cruel death of Christ. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His Anointed, saying “Let us break asunder, and cast away Their cords from us. He that sets in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. They shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure. Yet have I set My King upon My holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord has said unto Me, Thou art My Son; this day have I begotten Thee.” Psalms 2:1-7 If you can’t read, let someone who can read read this to you so you can understand that God, by definition of His power and might declared a decree.
This “decree” was not something that came up all of a sudden, it is not something that had an alternate if the demonstration of Christ power and majesty had not succeeded, this word teaches us it was of divine decree that had thundered from the regal throne of the Ancient of Days before time began!! Christ death, burial, and resurrection had always been the plan of Divinity!! Imagine Christ getting to the time and place when that decree was to be implemented and “want to back out”? You talk about glee in the halls of Hell, IF Satan even in his remotest dreams thought this a possibility why did he try to kill Christ BEFORE He was nailed to the cross?? This covenant or compact between God the Father and God the Son was an ETERNALLY decreed, agreed upon, and mutually acceptable. As Christ would say: “This is the will of Him that sent Me.” John 6:40, “This commandment I have received of the Father.” John 10:18, 14:31. IF, IF Christ had wanted to back out of His covenant with the Father, how could Deity condemn any man for wanting to do the same? “It would have been better not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and turned from it….the latter end of them is worse with them than the beginning.” 2 Peter 20-21 The fountain of all beings from whom all life, energies, and spirits emanated did not come all the way from eternity and get to the hill of Calvary where time would stand still and when He could glorify the beauty and wisdom of His Father’s will and repent of its demand!! Christ is the Son, not by adoption as we, but by inheritance. The Father sent One of His kind and that Kind NEVER shrinks from challenges faced!! Christ was unquestionably qualified and trustworthy who as the Father, of the same Kind as the Father, possessed the fulness, power, might, and holiness which would NEVER allow the Supreme Governor of the Church of Christ who was always with the Father to relinquish His position love demanded!!
When God, the Father declared; “Thou art My Son,” we who love and obey the Father declare, “Thou art the captain of my soul.” It had been pre-determined that “by the resurrection from the dead, that sign of the prophet Jonah, the most convincing proof that Christ is the savior of the Church was slated. Romans 1:4 Immediately after His resurrection, Christ was to take His highest of offices as mediator for the redeemed; “Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Isaiah 53:12 “Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, because He has made intercession for the transgressors. He shall be priest on His throne and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.” Zechariah 6:13 When, on the day of Pentecost, A D 33, the Jew cried out; ‘men and brethren, what shall we do? Acts 2:37, they had just heard the apostle Peter declare Jesus to be BOTH LORD AND CHRIST!! Christ is the only king of Israel that was both King and High Priest!!

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 11

The words of John 17 are words of parting. Jesus would be leaving this earth to return from whence He came. Parting words are always filled with great emotion. Each word is chosen deliberately for they will never be repeated, here. For they who attend this final communication the full intent of a life is usually the discussion. Among men, divestiture of goods along with personal direction is the labor of that moment. Feelings being hurt or pride being marred is not an option that is considered. The method of communication we have with the Father is not here shown, for Jesus was not praying as a man, for a man He was not. A very distinct meaning of the verb erotao is to pray, but in distinction from the verb aiteo. Erotao provides the most delicate and tender expression with the One asking and the One by some scholars teach being asked as on an equal level. Erotao is generally more conversational and at times may express a more intimate relation between the parties. It should be noted that Jesus always used erotao in His prayers to the Father (John 14:16) whereas the disciples used aiteo in their prayers to God. When we pray, an inferior being is asking a superior Being, leaving it up to the superior One to do that which pleases Him. The word in the Greek language for prayer when men pray to God is proseuchomai, a deponent verb where pros implies praying to God, a superior Being and embraces all that is known and included in the idea of prayer: thanks, asking, or requesting special things. The special word for prayer in worship when this function is mentioned is proskuueo which literally means to crouch, crawl, prostrate oneself before another.
“He lifted up His eyes to heaven.” This is the proper instruction for it is from heaven “every good and perfect gift comes.” James 1:17 Heaven is the Greek word ouranous and is defined as the region above the sidereal heavens, the seat of order of things eternal and consummately where God dwells. It is only appropriate that Jesus lifted up His eyes to heaven.
As Christ called God, Father, by example and instruction so call Him we the same. As Christ directed prayer ONLY to the Father, not the Holy Spirit, not Mary, nor any saint, so we direct our prayers. All who have the spirit of adoption are commanded to call God Abba Father, Galatians 4:6, while they who seek no proper address show their claim on Him as empty as their address!! Instruction comes in many fashions but that which is seen and described cannot be ignored or altered without instruction or allowance. It will be great use to us to call God Father as we hope to find Him to be the same for our direction and encouragement.
It is absolute that instruction can attend prayer. At this point in the “great Mystery” Him who would become the Mediator of all the redeemed had a request, wrought with tender expression, as we who now depend on Him, request. The success of His journey depended keeping the redeemed, saved. He would play such a role for His “purchased possession.” As He has had the heart of the petitioner so He could bless our efforts more effectively. It was not that He was asking for this privilege as much as He was teaching they who attended this prayer with information as yet to be revealed. No one knew the plan from the foundations of the world but They who had participated in the development and now the actual reality of bringing that plan into existence. It was not a bold or daring move of Christ to directly petition the Father, it was that natural of eternal beings, that which we became, that expresses the filial relationship we so thankfully possess. Prayer was not a demand on the sinner as sin had cut the sinner off from the Throne Room. Isaiah 59:1-2 Prayer was not the demand of the sinless for the sinless had constant fellowship with the Father in Heaven that had never been interrupted. So, children with no sin, a few of the prophets, and Christ were the only travelers of this road of blessed happiness. It would be 55 days before men on earth could approach such a blessed throne and that only because they had been they who would have been blessed with the “faith, grace, plan” that would allow them and ourselves this sacred retreat from sin because of the shed blood of the only true Son of God. Christ was not trying out something new and revolutionary, He had many times spent all night speaking with our Father and it should be noted that instructionally, He always called Him, Father even though we might assume there were other appellations with which He could have addressed Him of which we are not privy!! Christ claimed HAD COMPLETED His part of the plan even though He had not yet died!

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 10

Jesus had come to “do the Will of My Father.” Anytime you or I have been anticipating an event for a period of time, there seems to arise an interest in every movement, moment, or circumstance. We are excited about the “finishing up” of all the plans that have been made and carefully go over and over in our minds the final steps of preparation. Sure, we are tired of the preparation process and often dread the last pull up to the finish line but we persevere knowing what we are committed to and to whom, yet there is a kind of delight that comes across our expressions when we know that we are finally making the last load!! For the last 5,000 years or more Jesus Christ had lived every moment of the last week. There would be NO detail that His Father had assigned Him that He would not have scrutinized to the most minute detail. There must have been a little more excitement in His voice, a quicker step in His walk, and compassion in His dealings with His disciples that they may have recognized, but not knowing His time on the Earth was over, they would probably not have questioned. Just One More Week!, the last week and the plan of the ages would be completed as far as God’s part was concerned. Being complete, He would never again have to be scorned, spit on, slapped in the face, ignored, or impugned. It Would All Be Over!! Christ knew this; “Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world.” Acts 15:18 And for you who think Christ was not God, that he was some kind of super human, nothing He would have done would have been understood by you, anyway!
GOING HOME, not as a coward but a Captain!! There is a joy in that. Christ did not have to worry about the fact that He had not completed All that was given Him to do. In fact in this last recorded conversation with the Father, Christ said: “I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do.” John 17:4 God the Father did not have to worry that some half-human form was coming back to Heaven, Christ said: “And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.” John 17:5
The time of this communication with the Father is important. As we who preach the gospel must pray for they to whom we preach, so Christ goes to God, the Father in behalf of His disciples. He wanted them to hear what no man had ever heard in any dispensation of time: personal communication between two who possessed equal love for they who would become martyrs for Christ’s Bride!! When He spoke before His disciples to God, the Father, it was an instructional communication for the edification of His elect. Never before had Christ spoken directly to the Father in the hearing of man. Never had man been privileged to listen in on such a conversation. Never before had God talking to God been witnessed by man!! How precious the eleven were to have been so privileged!! Sadly, most of the religious world does not know Who was speaking to Whom or even what the conversation was about and even miss the purpose of this communication!!
These were “the last words of Christ to His family.” Some never have the opportunity to such a privilege-their parents not being Christians or the parents being “play around” Christians. The stillness of the moment sometimes intensifies the dedication of its purpose leaving an eternal weight on the hearts of those who so enjoy these moments. Some of us never got to witness this when our parent(s) were leaving this world. We were in another place or another room or maybe did not have parents who had opportunity to speak to us. Have you not often wondered just what they would have said? Not so with Christ. He who knew all things KNEW the end had arrived, He KNEW this would be the last address from Him they would hear so He intently wanted the disciples to “listen in” on God talking to God!! Abraham had taught his household, Genesis 18:19, Jacob called all his sons together before his parting and blessed them, Genesis 49, dying Moses blessed Israel, Deuteronomy 33, but men like David had never seized upon such an opportunity with his sons {as far as it being recorded} and NONE of them ever heard this great man of God even pray, so all of them were lost!! John 17 then was the dying Savior blessing His family just before His death was accomplished!! Read this prayer often brothers and sisters, this is a type of what Christ does for each one of us now as our High Priest!!
One of the most stringent and striking things as we begin goes unnoticed but is mentioned by the Holy Spirit through John; “and He lifted up His eyes to Heaven.” John 17:1

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 9

If Christ was made to die on the cross of Calvary, who made Him? I have looked throughout the scriptures for years and found nothing, nowhere that would give people that idea. Before there were years, before there was time, before there was anything that existed but three Beings of the same nature, power, and majesty a covenant was established that obligated all three of these Beings to participate in a plan which came to be called “mystery” to create, save, and promote all who would be created as human beings to glory, honor, might, and power to co-exist with Them for ever and ever!
Each Being was uncreated existing in a timeless expanse called Eternity independent and self-reliant without need, requiring no assistance, aid, or understanding because all three were equal in every aspect that could be analyzed, characterized, or explained.
In this covenant Each would play a role, participate in the agreement that would bring about resulting glory for mankind. They agreed upon and so pre-determined, what would be. The “mystery” was an expression of love that was inherent in Their nature. Their manner of expression began with thought from Him who would become known as the “Ancient of Days.” This thought was brought into existence by Him who would be known as “the Word.” For words are the expression of and the closest thing to thought. Therefore, the Father originated the plan called the “great mystery,” and the Son made that plan become reality, and the Holy Spirit communicated this “mystery” to mankind throughout three dispensations, the last being the climax of all that pre-existed it.
Beyond thought are the great blessings of the Cross. Christ death, in a physical sense, took place to make the unthinkable, possible. Again, if He did not desire the Cross, who made Him die? Miracles did not make Jesus different from all other men. Other men had worked miracles. Dieing did not make Christ remembered, sacrificing Himself as He did did place Him in a unique category. Even being sinless did not make Christ He whom we worship, for other men had lived on this Earth before Him who had not sinned, reached full maturity, suffered and emptied themselves for others, some, even who they did not even know. There was nothing holy about His type of death on a cruel cross, many thousands had died this type of unseemingly cruel death. Temptation did not make Christ unique and the fact that He never faltered in His commitment to carry out the plan of another did not make Him unique. Being resurrected from the dead even did not make Him unique. Being resurrected to never die again is a type of resurrection that none other had accomplished, but still that is not what made His death at Calvary the panacea to sin that it was. Isaac was offered by his father Abraham, was agreeable to whatever Abraham desired even to the gathering of wood, laying down on the table of sacrifice without murmuring. Yet, his death would never have accomplished what Christ death accomplished. Even if you coupled His death, burial, and resurrection, the sinless dieing for the guilty, none of these things were unique. What made Christ sacrifice greater than all the animal or human sacrifices ever offered from the foundations of the world was that His blood would both appease and justify the righteous Father when He would forgive sin. No other blood could justify the Father in forgiving man of sin when did not forgive angels that sinned!! He and His blood was greater than all other men because He was of a different nature, Jesus was and is God! Some people cannot appreciate this distinction until they are reminded of distinctions of which they already agree. The other day someone bought something that had belonged to a past President of the United States which had cost nothing beyond the average price at the time purchased, but, since it had belonged to a President it had an entirely different value. Cars, shoes, strands of hair, furniture—houses, all these things can fit into that category. Drive in a neighborhood where there is a house that a Queen had been born in and tell me that a distinction is not at once in value and importance. Imagine then the blood from the body He shared then tell me it is not distinctive beyond value!! The One and only uncreated, eternal from before the beginning, and incarnated Son of God shed blood that no other being could EVER compare!! His blood is not only special, it was planned from before the beginning to be SPECIAL AND ONLY THING ACCEPTABLE TO THE FATHER TO FORGIVE SIN BEFORE THERE WAS MAN OR SIN!!

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 8

“For this cause came I unto this hour.” How could one misunderstand this statement? When spoken of Pharaoh it is not misunderstood! Exodus 9:16 the scriptures tell us: “for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee My power.” Nor is it misunderstood when spoken of those who profane the Lord’s Supper: “for this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.” 1 Corinthians 11:30 Why, then, should someone misunderstand what Jesus says when He said: “for this cause came I into this world?” John 12:27 When before Pilate, Jesus said: “Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears My voice.” John 18:37 Some would say, “that proves my point.” Christ came into this world to be a king!” My friend just read verse 36 of John 18. “My kingdom is not of this world: if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is My kingdom not from hence.” John and Jesus had been preaching for about 51/2 years; “repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand,” one of the thieves at Calvary knew and understood this teaching. He castigated his fellow military insurrectionists when he cried out; “Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom” Luke 23:42 Jesus spoke to His disciples when He was introducing the Lord’s Supper when He said: “I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” Luke 22:16 “Fear not, little flock; it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32 Jesus “came into this world to save sinners,” writes Paul in 1 Timothy 1:15 and the ONLY way Christ could save sinners was to offer a sacrifice greater than the “blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer….a body Thou hast prepared Me.” Hebrews 10:5-10
With the death of Christ God JUSTIFIED His forgiving man of sin! Romans 3:24, else how could God have been held guiltless by forgiving man and not the angels who had sinned? It is true, the merchantman “sold ALL that He had, and bought it (The Church of Christ)” Matthew 13:46 With what did He buy the church, you might ask? His blood!! He “purchased her with His own blood.” Act 20:28 The Church of Christ was purchased “from the foundations of the world.” Ephesians 1:4 “In whom we have the redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7 IF CHRIST HAD NOT DIED, SALVATION WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE!!
“Put up thy sword into the sheath, the cup which My Father hath given Me, shall I not drink it?” John 18:11 The Greek word for given is dedoken which is the 3rd person indicative perfect active of the word didomi, a verb. It means to be entrusted with or given opportunity. Christ was to “give” His life a ransom, Matthew 20:28, or Christ would “give” to the apostles the Holy Spirit “to lead and direct them into all the truth.” John 16:13; Luke 21:15.
The blessings of the cross of Calvary are greater arguments as the truth presents itself concerning Christ dying for the sins of the Church. Christ blood shed at Calvary destroyed the enmity of God towards man. Ephesians 2:15-16, brought about reconciliation between God and man, Hebrews 2:17, made the sinless in Paradise one with the sinner of Paradise in the heart of the earth, Ephesians 1:10; 3:14, and destroyed the power of sin, expelled the Demons, destroyed temples, overturned altars, suppressed the sacrificial offerings, and founded the Church of Christ.
For these reasons the cross is brighter than the Sun, more brilliant than a sunbeam in the dark heart of woe, and that hope with which darkness is extinguished. It breaks our bond with Satan, makes the prison of death ineffective, and SATISFIED THE DEMANDS OF GOD. Truly, a demonstration of the “love of God” as expressed in John 3:16-18; “for God so loved the world (church) that He gave (entrusted Him with His plan) His only begotten Son (to purchase the “pearl of great price,” the cost?, His life’s blood) that whosoever continues to believe (obey) Christ will not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His son into the world (this planet) to condemn the world (mankind) but that the world (the Church of Christ) through Him, might be saved. He that (continues) to believe on Him is not condemned (“if God be for us, who can be against us”) but he that believes not (will not continue to obey Christ and His authority) is condemned already, because he hath not believed (continued to obey)in the name (authority) of the only begotten Son of God.” “The light shineth not in darkness.”

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 7

The teacher that teaches Christ did not want to die has some things he must not be too sure about. One, he must not be too sure that Jesus was God. Two, that Christ did not share our nature for thrity three years and allow the human nature that He shared in a human body to supersede the God nature. Three, That what glorifies the nature called God is not the same thing that glorifies the nature called human. Four, that the God who died on Calvary’s tree MADE the planet on which we live and owned the WHOLE creation before He came here in the flesh and would NEVER have been satisfied with some little hole in the road place called Jerusalem, nor the throne that could have been established there!! Fifth, that if He were God, there is not too much to fear, if man could kill Him once, it can be done the second time He comes. Sixth, with all the prophets and holy men having spoken of His dying when they wrote, they must have been describing someone else!! Seventh, and we could just keep going; pleasing God, the Father was not high on Christ agenda!!
What was Christ own definition of a hireling? In John 10 Jesus was teaching the blind man whom He had healed that had been blind since birth who, they who were truly blind were going to cast out of the synagogue for believing (or so they thought) in Christ. The blind man had not been healed because of faith, for he had never heard nor met Christ. Since Christ had healed him, Christ went to introduce Himself to the blind man On this occasion, Jesus said I will prove to you I am both God, God the Good Shepherd, and God the Good Shepherd that cares. “I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But he that is a hireling, and not the Shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees, and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep. The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and cares not for the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine as the Father knows Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep.” John 10:11-15 Maybe we had better go back and read that again!! What was the SIGN whereby we would know THE GOOD SHEPHERD?? “I give My life for the sheep.” IT GETS WORSE, “Therefore does My Father love Me, because I lay down My life, that I might take it again.”
IT GETS EVEN WORSE, “No man takes it (My life) from Me, but I lay it down (no one is making Me), and I have power (not been given this power, Christ had this power) to take it (My life) again. This commandment have I received of My Father (God, the Father had commanded, demanded, Christ to use His power, innate within Himself for He was God and resurrect Himself from the dead, this injunction was an order from the Father).” John 10:18 Question: if Christ HAD the power, DIED because He would use this as a signal to all who believed not in Him that He was God, and then did not die?? What a mess the devil has these purveyors of false doctrine getting in!! You see the question was not IF this could be done, the question was PROOF that Christ was the Good Shepherd. The world would not believe Christ was God. Christ offered them a sign, proof, a fact they even could not deny!! This death and resurrection was BECAUSE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF. PROOF WAS A NEEDED. ALSO, Christ said, THIS WAS COMMANDED of the Father. God, the Father commanded Christ to prove Himself the Good Shepherd, to prove Himself that He was of the nature, kind, genre of God before mankind by dying on Calvary and resurrecting the third day. THIS IS PROOF He was the Good Shepherd!! Christ had the power to do this, it would not be bragging on His part, it would be PROOF. NOT PROOF TO HIMSELF, PROOF TO THE WORLD. Miracles were a proof He was God but dying and resurrecting, that would be the ultimate convincing proof. SAID WHO? God, the Father. Conclusion: had Christ not died, He would have disobeyed a command, directive of the Father and the Father “would not love Me.” John 10:17 WHAT WAS THE PLAN IF HE HAD DECIDED NOT TO PROVE HIS DEITY? WHAT HE PROVE BY LIVING? He could have lived!! That too, was in His power!! Who, then would have loved Him?? HIMSELF??, how could He prove He loved the Father, that the Father knew the BEST way TO PROVE CHRIST TO BE GOD? If, then He did not die, what would He have proven?? THAT HE WAS THE HIRELING THAT FLED, DESERTED, DISHONORED of THE FATHER. Now, understand the plea of Christ: “Father, glorify Thou Me.”

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 6

Of all the insidious falsehoods perpetrated on some followers of Jesus Christ is His hesitancy in dying on the cross of Calvary. “For this cause came I unto this hour.” John 12:27 “The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.” John 12:23 “Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This He said, signifying what death He should die.” John 12:31-33 “Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you, for he that walks in darkness knows not whither he goes. While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light.” John 12: 35-36 You know, it would be bad enough for people to believe Jesus “chickened out” at Calvary IF they read these words and they were spoken at the beginning of His ministry on this earth!! But, to read these words which were spoken during the “last week,” just before His arrest, mock trial, and crucifixion one would have to be short a few oars in his boat to believe such nonsense. Again, they know not how Christ would be glorified, they think Him a human being!!
In Matthew 16:22 there was an exchange between Simon Peter and Jesus Christ. “From that time forth began Jesus to show unto His disciples how that He must go unto Jerusalem and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Then Peter took Him and began to rebuke Him, saying, ‘Be it far from Thee, Lord: this shall not be unto Thee. (This is what you hear preached from the pulpit!! Maybe there are more of these “I am of Peter” that we knew nothing about!!) But He (Christ) turned, and said unto Peter, ‘Get thee behind Me, Satan thou art an offense unto Me: for you savor est (are of the opinion, inclination) not the things that be of God, but those that be of men….Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” Matthew 16:21-28 Could Jesus come “in His kingdom” and not die at Calvary? Which was the most important message Jesus and John the Baptist preached for about 5 ½ years? If it took dying (and it most certainly did) to bring in the Kingdom, where is the mind of people who would ever teach Jesus DID NOT intend to die at Calvary?? Why would He so vociferously attack Peter calling him Satan? Was Jesus a liar? Did He strongly reprimand Peter and He later change His mind about dieing? This was about a year before He died, in John 12 it was about 3 days!! “All liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 The Holy Spirit is now called into question as to speaking the truth!! The Commentator absolutely says: “He MUST to unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and BE KILLED, and be raised again the third day.” Matthew 21:21 The Commentator here is none other than the Holy Spirit!! Now, we have two members of Deity lieing!! Christ death was fore-ordained, predetermined, established as fact in the “determinate counsel and foreknowledge of eternity.” Did Jesus not also know He would suffer? “Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them, ‘Whom seek ye?” John 18:4 Man, this is getting to be a mess. First Jesus lies, then the Holy Spirit lies to cover up for Jesus, and then the lie was established as fact in the “determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God.” Acts 2:23 Oh! mercy, this includes a lie ALL Deity would be involved with!! If God can lie, is there really a Heaven? Is there really forgiveness of sins? Is there life after death? Like Pilate; “What is truth?” John 18:38 Are the papist right, could Peter advise God?? Peter, like a lot of brethren, was giving counsel to Christ; shaming Him to “tell the truth”!! Romans 11:34 This is pretty serious, don’t you think?? Peter would have Christ to dread suffering and crucifixion as much as man would (and yet Peter was crucified upside down, history records), so now Peter is greater than GOD?? The language of Christ here was the strongest ever used in all Holy Writ. No man anytime or anywhere EVER used words that Jesus resented when heard more than these. Christ did not take time to deliberate, think about what He was going to say, consider how it would affect Peter or the other disciples, try to be kind, or overlook the ignorance of man to “the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God.” He wanted Peter to know how insulted, ill, angered, disgusted He was with Peter’s suggestion-IMMEDIATELY!! I fear for some of these preachers who make the same mistake.

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 5

Not everybody sees what glorifies God until they intentionally listen to His Word! “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:7-8 The glory and grandeur of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem would what the doctor would order IF we were talking about humanity. Kings and High Priests are known for wanting acclaim and attention through out human history, this is not the way of Deity. There is nothing to Them we can add, nothing They need, no encouragement They conjure, and worship to Them is expected and by Deity demanded!! To think that man has satisfied himself with the quaint little notion that Deity would want to come to this realm to be made a King is one ridiculous notion, but to come to Israel of all places to hide Himself away in a little no nothing kingdom when He could have advanced any kingdom or kingdoms of this earth, is another!! Imagine the audacity of the Jewish mind that would THINK that Deity would want to leave the realms above to come to this planet and become a King on such an insignificant throne when it is known that Israel came into being and became a kingdom Christ ALREADY was its King, the King they rejected for a human king!! 1 Samuel 8:6-7
We have bought into their conceit and way of thinking to think the 12th chapter of John had a significant event occur in it and we choose the wrong event!! That His entry into Jerusalem was an acclamation from the people of Israel that Jesus just might get their loyalty if He emulated or matched the glory of a human like king David is at best atheistic if not just a little insensitive to God’s plan from before the beginning!! The glory, the desire, Christ intended determination was “to do the will of His Father.” What would the prophets whose mouths and pens He had filled think if what He gave them to prophesy was not to be because He who inspired them decided to GIVE UP when the going got rough and lay aside the planning of multitudes of generations for mankind’s unlimited forgiveness?? Christ would lay aside God’s plan so humans could glory in Him?? Where did this stupidity come from? You are right, Hell!! and Satan is its author. Christ came to this world to seek the glory of His Father, not the acclaim of His creation. When the Greeks came to Philip and Philip to Andrew wanting to see Jesus, the glory and grandeur of Heaven, Deity, and honor was at stake, not just glory in some little kingdom among other earthly kingdoms attempting to satisfy a people He had fought with for over 1500 years and still could not convince them to love Him!! For those who believe Jesus got the nervous trembles in the Garden of Gethsemane must also believe ALL He had preached for 1500 through ALL the prophets AND John the baptist, the greatest prophet of their kind was not TRUTH!!
They preach, “but, He prayed, Father IF it be possible, let this cup pas from Me.” Are you trying to tell me the God of creation did not know the outcome, end, results of His life here on the earth?? Was Christ ignorant of His outcome?? Would that mean He was fooled when He created? By human standards, did He commit suicide when He made ALL things? If it were suicide, was He guilty of sin? Would the reward of obedience be measured in human standards? If this were true, we could contend that Christ DID get cheated, did die for naught, and was a fool and pawn for WHAT?? Have you not read His address on this subject? “I foresaw the Lord, that He was on My right hand that I should not be moved: therefore did My heart rejoice and My tongue was glad, moreover also My flesh shall rest in hope.” Acts 2:25-26 Does that sound to you like a scared, despondent man in the throes of death? When He told the thief, “Today, thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.” Did that cause you to think He was unsure of the outcome of His sacrifice?? What verse, if you please, can you quote or cite that would cause one to think that Christ was ignorant or unsure of the outcome of His death. Again, had He a short memory and forgotten what He had commissioned the Holy Spirit to inspire the prophets to write? The Prophets knew of the death, the cause of death, the way He would die. They might not have completely understood all of it but they DID write it! The prophets knew He would rise from the dead. Paul wrote; “He died, was buried, and rose again, according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Christ seemed supremely confident when He spoke strongly to Simon Peter about His death just a year before He died. Matthew 16:22 All I can ask is WHAT HAPPENED to change all this??

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 4

I intentionally wanted to draw your attention away from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem to allow you to see what was important that day. There are many who still want to believe Jesus wanted to reign on David’s throne in physical Jerusalem. This is a lie from the pits of Hell fomented in the larvae of Satan encrusted in the bedrock of damnation. (Could I say it any more positive that this?) They think sense in the triumphant entry, the glories of their yearning they have for their pre-millenial visages. “OH, if Jesus just could have been treated like He should have been,” or “Now this, is what the King of Glory deserved” can be heard from pulpits across our brotherhood when if fact had this “Glorious Entry” been what God had intended would not Christ have reigned, THEN?? Had He, the Church of Christ would not and could not have come into existence and salvation would still be a glowing ember in everybody’s hearts and minds instead of a reality!! You see, my friend, the great event of that day occurred when the Greeks came to Phillip and Andrew and ask; “Sirs, we would see, Jesus.”
Men for centuries have longed for a different ending to the story of Christ than the one the Godhead predetermined. They feel sorry for Jesus!! They think they are being loyal and loving to His memory. In fact, you can hear preachers crying over the size of the spikes driven into His hands and feet or the crown of thorns in His brow or His tears becoming like drops of blood as they proclaim that Jesus did not really want to die. They preach that Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane begging and pleading with the Father to stop the show and change the ending; “Father, if Thou wilt, let this cup pass from me.” I hope you noticed that I did not put any punctuation marks in that verse as they have, mine to illustrate my point, theirs to support their lie! If, like them, they write; “let this cup, pass from Me” they teach a false doctrine by the placing of the comma, wrongly. I will show (myself not being in the presence of Christ when He made this plea) this to be opposite of the truth. In a court of law when eye witnesses cannot be had, the case is tried by what is called circumstantial evidence, not emotional supposition!!. What is the meaning of this passage?
Many view Matthew 26:39 as Christ pleading not to die when He was pleading TO DIE!! They think His triumphal entry shows the glory He wanted as support. Christ once said; “I was grieved with that generation, and said, ‘They do always err in their heart; and they have not known My ways.” Hebrews 3:10 Using circumstantial evidence and statements made beforehand as a lawyer would in court, we will try the case and reach a verdict, not listen to silly, emotional old wives tales!!
I will make a accusation that might shock the tender hearted. If Christ meant to beg off from death, He was more ignorant of the Old Testament scriptures than any prophet who prophesied!! Did Christ show ignorance, was it possible for Him NOT to die? How atheistically ridiculous. “When He cometh into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offering ‘Thou wouldest not (animal sacrifices God was not satisfied with), but a body hast Thou prepared Me….Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume {at the beginning of written inspiration} it is written of Me (in the garden of Eden just after the fall of Adam) to do Thy will, O God. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.” Hebrews 10:4-10 The words of One who could be claimed to be ignorant would USE the word IF, but not the words of the Wisdom of God!! The word IF is indicative of doubt! Did Christ come into this world doubting why or for what reason He came?? “but for this cause came I unto this hour.” John 12:27 Can we not learn the aim of the speaker, the cause, and intent by what He had already said?? “If I be not lifted UP” Were these words spoken by unspeakable Wisdom (these are the words used to describe Christ) not knew the Father? “From the beginning of His way before ever the earth was, before His works of old” Proverbs 8:22-23, “as the Father knew the Son”; “For the Father knoweth Me; even as I know the Father.” Matthew 11:27; Luke 10:22; John 10:15 (want more proof?) . Do you really think the Godhead sent someone who was or could have been questioned to succeed in the mission given Him?? Isaiah 28:16
Who told the prophets what they prophesied? Were the prophets ignorant of the sacrificial death of Christ?? If inspired beforehand with MUCH assurance “of the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.” 1 Peter 1:9-12, only atheist could believe He would retire from His given mission!!!!

The Last Week of Jesus Life Part 3

Many things loose the significance of the moment unless you realize that that moment has come. When Jesus headed to the Passover festival, one of these defining moments occurred. What most see as one of these moments did not have the effect shown by the Lord as the moment which did have that effect. All of us have heard of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem. This was Not His glory!!
The events in the life of Christ were known to Him and were prearranged (what is mostly called, predestination). He literally came to play out a role agreed upon between He and the Godhead before the beginning of time. Not to be ignored but understood in the effect this incident had on our Lord, this occurrence was far more important, than others.
Most have spent a lot of time on the triumphal entry into Jerusalem while seemingly none have paid too much attention Christ On His way to the celebration, the Passover, certain Greeks came up to one of His disciples named Philip. These were Jews who had come to the festivities and heard of Jesus and wanted to see Him. The curiosity of these Greeks is not to be condemned, for people have always wanted to see famous men. On some of these occasions the results have been profitable. The great crowd that came together on the day of Pentecost were greatly benefited by the preaching they heard. Acts 2:1-41 Many people now go to preaching through curiosity, and are convinced by what they hear. The name Philip is Greek, as is also the name Andrew. These Greeks must have known Philip, else they would not have known that he was a disciple of Jesus, for Jesus was not present when they questioned Philip. Philip first conferred with his brother Andrew. Philip and Andrew then went to Jesus with the request publicly. (We are never told, by the way, that Jesus ever honored this request!) What this set in motion has not been given the importance due it.
Immediately, Jesus went into what seems a prepared speech for Philip and Andrew and they who were present. “The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.” John 12:23 If you and I let the religious world tell us what glorified Christ and shut our ears to what is actually said to have glorified Christ, we will not appreciate what He considered His glory, but what is important to them!! Christ would be glorified when the Holy Spirit would descend to baptize the apostles as evidence He had completed the covenanted made with Deity!!. John 7:37-39 Peter states this truth in his sermon on the day the Holy Spirit came in miraculous fashion, baptized the twelve (not the 120), and the world first heard the “plan of salvation” In his sermon Peter stated: “Being therefore by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this, which you now see and hear.” Acts 2:33 In a striking illustration Christ sets forth the truth that first He must die!! Unfortunately, this is contrary to what most of the erudite believe. They teach that Christ did not want to die and begged the Father to allow Him to escape death by crucifixion. Christ exclaims the opposite!! The world wants to see Me? But, I MUST die, first!! The shame and agony of Calvary was His glory and that for which He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane!! John 17:1-4 Here, Jesus explains WHY!! He HAD COME TO DIE. “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.” John 12:24 Christ did not intend to go home empty handed, die alone!! He intended to bring into existence that which would “bear much fruit!! Isaiah 53:11 Paul writes: “For it became Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both He that sanctifies (the Purchaser) and the they (His bride, the Church of Christ) that are sanctified are all of one (Ephesians 5:28-30) for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren. Saying, I will declare Thy name (message, gospel, doctrine) unto My brethren, in the midst of the church (the purchased possession) will I sing praise unto Thee. And again, I will put My trust (Acts 2::25-28 “For David speaks concerning Him, I foresaw the Lord always before My face; for He is on My right hand-My power and strength to be able to do as covenanted-that I should not be moved (change what is covenanted): Therefore did My heart rejoice (does this sound like a Being who was trying to get out of to what He agreed)and my tongue was glad”) in Him (the Father)” Hebrews 2:11-13; 10:7 CHRIST CAME TO DIE, DIEING WOULD GLORIFY HIM THE CHURCH is His glory!
