One and But One

One and But One Part 20

There are two words in the Greek translated “one,” the words are hen and heis.  Both are significant.  I will use Strong’s numerical numbers for these words to make it clearer for all of us.   Heis (1520) means numerically one while hen (3391) means one in essence.  In John 10:30 Jesus said “I and the Father were one (3391).”  He did not mean they were one individual as some of the denominationalists teach who think there is only one in the Godhead, He meant by the definition of the word, one in essence.  If the wrong word for “one” was used in the translation of the text you could easily see how false doctrine could be taught!!  “There is ONE (1520) body.”  This is a quantitative definition of singularity, it is a clear definition, one is one there cannot be differing doctrines in a faith that is from ONE (3391) GOD!!  Those who try to make it mean all the churches are one in believing that Jesus is the Christ and that therefore qualifies all them as believers—have mishandled the truth.  “Now, are there many members, yet but ONE (1520) body.” 1 Corinthians 12:20   “And He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:18   In the Mount of Transfiguration when Moses and Elijah appeared to discuss the death of Christ which should occur outside the city of Jerusalem, Peter said “Lord, it is good for us to be here, if Thou wilt, let us build three tabernacles.  One (3391for Thee, One (3391) for Moses, and one (3391) for Elijah.  While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.” Matthew 17:4-5   It seems to me everyone should understand God, the Father’s position in sharing the essence of authority He was to given His Son!!

“A man shall leave father and mother his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one (3391) flesh.” Genesis 2:24   To show this same truth is taught in the Old Testament we will look at the word “one” in another tongue.  The word “one” in the Hebrew for unity or sameness of purpose is echad while the word for one numerically is yachid.  When you count in Hebrew you start yachid, deuterous, and so forth; one never starts echad, deuterous!!  Adam and Eve were to be ONE  in essence, unity, purpose, and agreement, not meld back into one being from which they had come.

Adam’s operation would have been ridiculous, wouldn’t it??  Again, there is ONE (3391) faith. Ephesians 4:4   Not a faith I like, one you like, and one somebody else approves: it is ONE, this “faith” always teaches the same thing!!  Again, there is ONE (1520) baptism.  Baptism is in water, for the remission of sin.  There is no Holy Spirit baptism, water baptism, baptism in fire—pick your choice!!  All the references to baptism are ONE (1520) for the sinner to become a saint.  It is for the same purpose.

If we were to put the numbers be each word in Ephesians 4:4 to make it more absolute in your mind, it would look like this: “There is one (1520) body, and one (1520) Spirit, even as you are called in one (3391) hope of your calling: One (1520) Lord, one (3391) faith, and one (1520) baptism, One (1520) God and Father of all who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”       Let us look the same way at 1 Corinthians 12:12-13.  “For as the body is one (1520), and has many members, and all the members of that one (1520) body, being many, are one (1520) body: so also is Christ.  For by one (1520) Spirit are we all baptized into one (1520) body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond of free: and have been all made to drink into one (1520) Spirit.”  How about 1 Corinthians 12:20?  “But now are they many members, yet but one (1520) body.”

One and But One Part 19

Many of our brethren quote Ephesians 4:4-6: “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God, and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”  Most often used as a proof text for the truth that there is only One, missing the genius of Paul’s discussion.

The first century’s discussion centered on the two covenants, Mosaical and Christian, and whether the two phased into One by a combination of the two.  The professors of Christianity from Jerusalem that caused all the problems in Galatia (Galatians 1:6-9) were trying to enforce this position on the early Church.  Paul, as the Spirit inspired him to write, is teaching God’s truth on that subject here in Ephesians 4.  Recognizing that the Mosaical Church had existed, which by the way was called the “Law,” it did not mix and mingle with the New Testament Law, which in many contexts is referred to as “Spirit or life.”  The whole argument in this part of the letter to the Ephesians was on unity.  Unity did not just happen; it was a present tense idea and was constantly brought to the forefront.  The perfect example of Unity was God.  If there is anything known about Deity is that is ONE!!  Never is it inferred that each pulled in a different directions.  They never disagree!!  There is one and but one plan, They never overreached each other’s area of the plan!!  God, the Father never tried to do the job of God the Son and God the Son never tried to interfere, second guess, the work of God, the Holy Spirit.

The work of God, the Spirit, was the perfection of the “body.” God the Son purchased it with His blood. God, the Father planned it before time.  When the Spirit speaks of the “body,” He emphatically states—there is ONE!!    This is kind of hard to miss.  There are no two covenants, bodies, churches, groups—Mosaical and Christian—and they do not merge together in plan, worship, or law.  As a result, the declaration from the Holy Spirit is there is One Body!!  It is a “fiat” command, statement, not a suggestion for man to vote on.  Since by the Holy Spirit the message of salvation has come to the ears and hearts of man, it would the ONE the Holy Spirit ONLY who would reveals to man. what makes us Christians and Christians, only then is the message of the Spirit!!

When Paul delivered this edict from the Holy One, there was every cult imaginable in the mystery religions of the day and each had its own god-lord.  Today, it is not “up for debate” among those who believe in God, that THERE IS ONE GOD!!  As emphatic, the apostle states there is ONE LORD.  There is only one member-God who has authority!!  It was given Him by the Father and the Holy Spirit!!  Christ is the only means of access into HIS church.  He, as this means of access is called Savior!  As there is ONE Savior, there is ONE FAITH, body of doctrine that will teach His doctrine, faith, plan, that will put the obedient sinner into His One Body!  It would not be by Moses, a combination of Moses and Christ, a combination of man’s ideas and God’s, nor a combination grandma’s feelings and the Pope’s.  There is only “ONE”!!   The term faith is used several different ways in the Scriptures.  Sometimes faith relates to the subjective placing of confidence in God; sometimes it refers to the body of doctrine that believers accept and continue to obey, and sometimes it refers to the means of access to God, the Father.  Since Paul, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is contrasting the doctrines of the Mosaic Law to the doctrine of the Christian dispensation, it is clearly showing that the Church could not mix and mingle the doctrine of Christ with the doctrines of the Law of Moses.  Again, there is only ONE!!  The doctrines of men do not come from the pages of God’s word; therefore they are not authorized by Him who has all authority!!

One and But One Part 18

If there were more than one body of Christ, what name would she wear? What doctrine would she preach? and what Lord would they honor??  If there were more than one body of Christ what premise would they have for existence?  If there is one and but one body of Christ to whom He is married and over which He reigns supreme in authority, what Old Testament pattern would she fulfill?  If there is more than one body of Christ why would the Holy Spirit, who is known for being exact in every detail, allow such a mistake to slip by Him in His agreement to the other beings called God to “make all things sure”??  What would the purpose in God allowing more than one road to eternity—does competition make things better for His plan?  I just wonder what benefit it would render the Almighty to support confusion—for if there were more than one bride for Christ, one path to eternity, and one church authorized by the entire Deity, would the other(s) by jealousy and competition not destroy the first bride and her children?

Did it work with Abraham?  When Abram was in his 80’s his wife Sarai decided God was not going to be able to keep His promise that He had given her husband.  She maybe did not blame God; she just reasoned it could not be.  She was getting way up there in age, herself, and they had never between them had a child, they did not even have a daughter!!  Being patience is one thing, but being so old she knew according to the way of life, having a child would be a thing impossible.  Abram never pondered this for he thought all things were possible with God.  Sarai decided to allow Abram to have here slave girl, Hagar, in her place.  To her Abram went in and soon she would be sporting a fine baby body God called Ishmael.  Problem solved, right??!!  Here comes competition!  “When she saw she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.”  The woman who was free had not been blessed and the woman who was a slave, had.  Things quickly became unbearable.  Sarai demanded that Abraham chose between the two.  Abraham refused saying Hagar was her slave girl, not his.  Sarai made things real hard on Hagar (sounds like this multiple marriage thing was really working, doesn’t it??)  Hagar ran away things were so good.  Christ intervened   Now, according to the world’s wisdom there should have been a wonderful atmosphere around Abraham’s tent in those days.  I guess man does not know best!!

About 13 years later Christ visited Abraham.  During this visit, Christ told Abraham in about a year he and Sarai would have a son.  Sarai was in her tent eves-dropping on the conversation of God and Abraham instead of minding her own business. When she heard she was to have a boy in about a year, she “laughed.”   A year later she was the mother of a baby boy.  God had kept His word.  For all those who like competition, the older began to mock the younger child at weaning time.  The younger child’s mother heard him mock her son.  She went storming to Abraham and cried out; “cast out the bondwoman and her son.  For the bondwoman and her son shall not heir with the free.”  So much for competition!!

Christ has but ONE bride.  She is the Church of Christ.  He has children by her and her alone.  She has competition with NONE other woman.  She is not gravelling for attention.  Her place by His side is sure and settled.  No one wonders if her children are as good as that of a wife who has children by her husband as does she!!  This story can be read in Galatians 4:21-31.  The conclusion of inspiration is this: “So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.”  Nobody’s children are as good!!

One and But One Part 17

A clear and unequivocal description of the oneness on the Church and Christ is given in Ephesians 5:21-23.  Here, there many things written that the multiplicity of churches would demand the destruction of the integrity of God!!

“For the husband (singular) is the head of the wife (singular) as Christ (there is only ONE Christ) is the head of the church (singular); and He is the savior (singular) of the body (singular). Ephesians 5:23    There are many things irrefutable taught her that cannot and will not fit denominationalism.  As we have looked back to Eden for instruction, we need to remember it set for us a physical pattern that will teach us these spiritual truths.  As Adam had only ONE wife in the Garden of Eden so Christ is pictured as having only ONE wife in this world.  No one refutes the ONE wife in the Garden while ALL denominational churches refute the ONE bride of Christ in this world, today!!  Many questions unanswerable come to mind.  IF Eve came from Adam, and only Eve, what is the pattern of Christ and the Church?  Eve came from Adam’s side—no one refutes this truth.  The ONLY church that came from the crucifixion was the Church of Christ for some of the following reasons.  One, she is the only one mentioned in the Bible after Jesus was crucified.  Two, she is the only church that allows Him to govern her in every capacity of faith and practice.  She has no manuals, creed books, or disciplines; no catechisms, prayer books nor church covenants.  Three, she is the only church that exist today that existed during the reign of the Roman Caesars. (No, the Roman Catholic Church never existed during the reign of the Caesars; they began after the decline of the Roman world).  Four, it is only natural that one head is attached to ONE body.  The Holy Spirit calls the church the BODY of Christ—Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 5:23, 30; Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:12, 13, 20; Colossians 3:15; Ephesians 2:16; Ephesians 4:4 just to name some.  You cannot have one head and multiple bodies!!  Fifth, the entity called His body, came from HIS BODY.  Denominations came from wars, movements, political upheavals—but NONE of them came from Christ body.  Sixth, no other woman has produced children to Christ as no other woman produced children to Adam but Eve!!  Eighth, the Church of Christ is the ONLY church that preaches the plan of salvation taught by Christ!!  Christ told His disciples to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believes and is baptized will be saved.”  On the day of Pentecost, Peter preached the same plan of salvation-read Acts 2:38; Paul preached the same plan of salvation “every where in every church” 1 Corinthians 15:1-3.  NO denomination teaches this plan of salvation—some have it written in their documents but NONE teach it to sinners!!

Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field…but for Adam there was not found a help meet.” Genesis 2:19-20   Jesus, like Adam, came to this world seeking a wife, a help mate.  Adam went among the animals of God’s creation and looked for a mate and could not find one.  God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof.”  As Adam, Jesus could not find anyone like Himself—“He came unto His own, but His own received Him not,” so God “caused” death to come to Christ and in the act of dieing, from His wounded side came out the part of Christ by which Christ would create a “new creation” that would be like Himself, “without spot or wrinkle of any such thing,” the Church of Christ!!  Adam then said; “she is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh.”  Christ blood was shed, Christ took His blood and washed the repentant, and they became “bone of His bone.”

One and But One Part 16

Man was not made just animal; there were many types of animals that preceded man.  None were his equal, species/type/nature.  Man was greater than any animal God made.  Man was distinctively different, not just a superior beast from the field!!

When God made man, He physically made him male and female, in one body.  He did this for a reason.  God was showing His plan of salvation yet unspoken, unknown, and un-revealed.  It would take some 4,000-6,000 years for God to reveal the purpose of making man, two beings as one.  Some still has problems with this riddle.  Imagine the perfection of God, taking from that first creation, making two.  How could there be a more exact companion?  Some animals had been made male and female, but the highest order of God’s creation was ONE.  When separated, every part of the anatomy would compliment that from which it was separated.  This is perfection God-style!!  Yet, man was first made, alone—and that some think stopped perfection.  When alone, man knew something was missing.  He maybe did not know WHAT, but man did show that  perfection was not really that perfect, alone!!  Man was lonely.  Loneliness was a concept, not a reality.  Man showed himself greater in creation recognizing, reasoning, even without revelation that he was not “all that he should be!!”  This emptiness, this recognition of a void in him has not been understood.  Without man being created as two beings in one, man would have never sensed his incompleteness.  There was no sense of rejection, just a void.  God had solved loneliness before it became a problem–all God does has perfection written all over it!!  When God acts,  His work is many times unnoticed or misunderstood, yet there is perfection!!  Could a perfect God produce imperfection even when perfection that was was not recognized because it had to await revelation??  Is not this the whole pattern of “scheme of redemption”??  Many have ask; “why the marriage vows of Genesis?”  Before man, there was marriage!!  The marriage ceremony of Adam and Eve was the SECOND performance of this ceremony, not the first!!  Adam had no father to leave!!  No wonder Eve was “bone of his bone.”

All men are made with a “missing void” in their hearts.  This yearning of heart, this message from the “I” that is within shows something is missing.

Man has tried, in vain, to fill this void with drugs, liquor, material possessions, and other debaucheries but God made man to have this void and there is only thing that will fill this void—GOD!!  One of the greatest tragedies of Hell will be loneliness!!

When you buy a new car, you get an owner’s manual.  Before you read the manual there are many wrong things you might do even to the point of destroying the new car.  So many things might look like the last car you had last. It is smarter to look in the owner’s manual before you tear up the car—right??  By the way—if you buy a Ford, don’t think “one manual is as good as another”, and that since your mother taught you about your first car she is the authority for the new car!!  Don’t go to the friend who has driven 1,000,000,000 miles in a Ford for advice about your Toyota, look in the book!!  They might not “intend” to give you advice that might destroy the transmission but if you put Ford transmission fluid in your Toyota—it will burn up–read the manual!!  The owner’s manual MUST BE written by the Creator, not just a friend!!

God made man 2/3’s spirit and 1/3 flesh.  Later, He gave man an owner’s manual.  As a Toyota manual never mentions a Ford the Bible never mentions any denominational church!!  Is this hard to understand??  The Church of Christ is God-made!!  Denominational churches are man-made.  The doctrines/parts do not interchange!!

One and But One Part 15

That that is read in the Garden tells the answers to religions most perplexing questions: “do all religions represent Christ?”  Nobody in their right mind would ever question the fact that there was one man and one woman in the Garden!!  The man’s name was Adam (after the separation) and the woman’s name was Eve.  The name Eve started the practice of naming children a name that defines.  Eve means the “mother of all living.”  Science today tells us that all humanity can be traced to one fertilized egg.  Adam, unlike a lot of Old Testament greats never had more than ONE WIFE!!

Adam was a being that at the first was both male and female.  Adam was lonely.  He had been “sent” into the creation of Christ to look, TO CHOOSE, a suitable mate.  He found none.  Christ caused a sleep to come over Adam and in that sleep, the first operation on record was successfully performed.  Christ took a bone from Adam’s body and beautifully and wonderfully created Eve.  God placed them in the Garden with INSTINCT—multiply and replenish the Earth.  This they did, YET THEY DID NOT KNOW, WHY!! They propagated BEFORE it was by choice!!  The inhibitions men possess today about sexual communion was not apart of reproduction, it included it, UNTIL both Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.  Sexual union can PRECEDE marriage BUT NOT BY God’s Law. Hebrews 13:5   Eve was “bone of Adam’s bone and flesh of his flesh” just as pictured with Christ and His Church!! Ephesians 5:30. Distinction between Adam and Eve was NOT made until sin.  Sin was a new concept and God made it clear that it would not to be tolerated, in the Garden.  Eating the forbidden fruit would cause the “eat-or” to be expelled.

When Adam married Eve it was not for sex, animals do not marry, only man marries, it is not because of instinct, or smell, it is because he was made after the likeness of God, he has “CHOICE”.  Sin did not come into being before there was “law.” They lived in the Garden BEFORE Law!!  “Multiplying and replenishing the earth” was not a choice, not a law; it was instinct.  Christ explained Adam when He gave Adam “choice.”  Instinct is NOT law.  Instinct is what God placed IN the creature FOR SURVIVAL.  Law exists in “addition to” instinct. Law demands choice. All animals in the animal kingdom have instinct; none have “law!!”  A bear does not choose his mate BECAUSE of what they have in common.  When he takes a life, or kills his young he is not punished!! Punishment is not apart of instinct, it is a part of Law!!  Law demands the ability to reason.  Animals cannot reason, they have instinct, only.  God showed Adam and Eve HIGHER than animals by giving them LAW.  Law uses alternatives, instinct does not.  Alternatives have to be more feared than the blessings.  The animal kingdom does not have an alternative, a choice, all they have is instinct!!  Man is not the same being as animals, he is higher.  Animals do not MARRY, THEY MATE!!  Man did not come from animals, he came from God!!  Up until this giving of Law, the only Being who had chosen was God.  God had already “chosen” to give His only begotten Son.  His Son had already “chosen” to marry His bride, the Church of Christ.  Adam’s vows were the re-statement of Christ’s covenant. God had chosen.  There would be ONE AND BUT ONE.  God does not have a harem!!  One would not be as good as the other!!  Man was created in the “image of God,” “shacking up” is not like God, it is like animals!! Animals have no concept of God or choice. They just produce!! Choice is proof that man is God’s offspring!  Marriage and sex is not the same thing!! God has placed IN MARRIAGE the joys of sex and punishes men who do not comply.  Explain that to a rabbit!!

One and But One- Part 14

In the Garden of Eden there was a pattern set that pictured the Body of Christ.  It answers questions that many times have been ignored by religious scholars.  In a world of perfection and beauty God set Adam.  Adam was at the first ONE.  Then from one came two of the same likeness.  “This is the book of the generations of Adam.  In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them, and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.” Genesis 5:1-2   Why did God create man?

The next thing that is established is that God created all things.  Man did not create man.  Man is not his own maker, therefore he can NOT be his own master; but the Author of his being must be the director of his happiness and the center of his happiness.  For God alone would know HOW to make man happy.  Why would God want man to be happy??      Man was not from eternity.  There was a period of existence when man was not.  As one expression of God’s being, God was preparing for man a home.  What preceded man was either inferior or superior to him in all aspects of what is known as being!  Being is that which describes the whole, not the part of a nature.  Nature is a description of power or the ability to perform independent of any other thing. What is interesting is that God created man in the likeness of His own Self.  For man to be like God man had to be just as devoted to perfection as He and perfection had already been shown to be attained by Law!!  That which described God was righteousness, holiness, and love.  A being without the desire or compulsion to sin for sin would be the breaking of His own Law which had already brought perfection.  Love though demanded choice, and until man choice was not confirmed. There was nothing God had created, favored.

Sin was an after creation, not of God, but of the arch-angel named Satan.  Its design was to alter God’s plan which came about because of choice!!  Law is the first order of Heaven and its inhabitants.  Before there was sin, Law was not-challenged, not-abridged, nor even changeable- for all Law was from God and by Law everything made was “good and very good!!”   For sin to be, it had to be fathered, begotten, and brought into existence CONTRARY to established Law, the order of God.  Nothing had existed without God’s Law or order, therefore there was NO SIN!!   Sin, then is anti-God, against order, and something that will destroy the perfection in God’s order which HAD BROUGHT about man’s happiness.

Sin did not come into existence on this Earth among man first; it came into existence among the angels that superintended the Earth. (Earth is only planet that God supplied angelic superintendents). It is apparent these angels did not completely understand their function and thought themselves God’s choice among all His creation UNTIL God’s final work of creation, man!!  It was then that angels knew they were the servants of man.  Some rebelled while others remained faithful, led by their arch angel, Satan.  Satan as a created being thought himself capable of changing God’s plan.  He, with a great host thought himself able to change God’s eternal plan??  “What if some did not believe (obey) would that make the faith (Law) of God of no effect?” Romans 3:3-4

God’s final act of creation was called re-creation, re-born, a redeemed creation.  The same God who created the first Adam took from Himself, the second Adam, the second Eve, “the mother of all living.”  Satan has again tried to stop this re-creation, called the Church of Christ.  Again, SHE is God’s choice made after His KIND and nothing or no one can replace her.  She is the ONE AND BUT ONE!!

One and But One- Part 13

Is there a difference??  Religious division is the norm of the day, people become satisfied with division, tolerate it, and accept it, even some boast the religious division is “healthy competition”!!  Statements like “join the church of your choice,” “it makes no difference what one believes just as long as they are sincere,” or “we’re all going to the same Heaven, we are just going on different paths” express a convenient attitude of toleration  for “allowable differences” that the Word of God condemns and will not tolerate!!  When one meets a friend who belongs to a denomination and attempts to discuss with them the religious differences between that man-made institution and the Church of Christ, many times they meet an indifferent attitude with a convenient attitude of toleration for “allowable differences” who will not engage in a search in the Bible for the truth because they think it “really does not make any difference, God will accept everybody who loves Him.”

Is there a right and a wrong??  Our school system these days does everything they can to avoid calling things right or wrong.  One common excuse which allows for differences is “well, that is just your interpretation, and everybody does not interpret the Bible alike” or “I have my own ideas and religion is personal, anyway.”  Left out of all this “human rationality,” this “escape from facing the issues, this “I can’t judge you” religion is God!! and more particularly, God’s Word!!

Jesus was recorded saying, “I Am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father, but by Me.”  John 14:6   Question: does it matter which WAY one enters on the road to eternal life?  Again, Jesus answers: “Strive to enter in at the strait gate.  For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14   Are these verses subject to interpretation??  There are some things so plain; it takes help to misunderstand them!!  Some respond; “well, it seems right!”  Solomon wrote: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end thereof is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12   “But, they say, I have a clear conscience about my religion.”  To that Paul, by inspiration responds, “I have lived in all good conscience, until this day.” Acts 23:1   Again you hear; “My religion was the religion I grew up on, my Mother and Father belonged to this denomination.”  Again, Jesus responds: “You have not His word abiding in you; for whom He has sent, Him you believe not.  Search the Scriptures: for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of Me.” John 5:38-39

Will God accept just any “sincere” expression of obedience??    Jesus answers: “God is a Spirit and He seeks such to worship Him.” John 4:24   “I marvel that you are so soon removed from him who called you by the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another, but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we have said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9   John, by the inspiration of the Spirit writes: “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your assembly, neither bid him God-speed: For he that bids him God-speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” 2 John 9-10.  They might respond: “Not everyone believes what the Bible says, we have a catechism, others have a creed book, and some have miracles.  God is ALWAYS RIGHT

One and But One- Part 12

Who and what denominational preacher would baptize for the remission of sin?  None, that I know about would willingly or knowingly baptize a sinner, they are ordained to only baptize what they perceive as the “saved.”  I know of only one time it is recorded when a Baptist preacher baptized a close friend of his for the remission of sin!  The story goes; they were out fishing, as they fished they got to talking about the Scriptures.  The friend ask a question; “why do I have to wait to be baptized, can I not duplicate what happened in Acts 8 with Philip and the Eunuch?”  To that the Baptist preacher responded; “I don’t see why not.”   They stopped the boat, the Baptist preacher took the man’s confession, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,” and he baptized him.  They were so elated over this happy event; they could not wait to get back to tell all their church members.  The Baptist deacon board called an immediate meeting.  The sinner could not be a member of the Baptist Church, they do not baptize sinners!!  The Baptist preacher could not explain just WHY he ignored Baptist doctrine and did what the New Testament example taught him (the very idea of such insolence)!!  No members of the Baptism denomination heard this man’s salvation experience and therefore COULD NOT vote on him to let him be a candidate for baptism as the Baptist manual proscribed!!  “What were they to do?”   They called the pastor and his friend to their meeting, told the pastor he would have to baptize the man “after Baptist fashion” AFTER some of them heard his testimony and voted to accept him as a candidate for baptism.  The Baptist pastor agreed to this and 6 weeks after he professed “I believe that God has for Christ sake forgiven me of my sins,” the pastor baptized this man, again.  This time to make him a member of the Baptist Church, allow him to vote on the next preacher, and partake of the Lord’s Supper every first Sunday of the month.  After this all had taken place, they fired the Baptist preacher for violating his oath taken when he had been ordained a pastor in the Baptist faith that he would baptize nothing but saints, NEVER SINNERS!!

You see, my friend, the Church of Christ is the called out, not the scattered among!!  We are not like the Baptist in the purpose of baptism.  We are not like the Baptist on many other things, the frequency of partaking of the Lord’s Supper being an outstanding difference.  The Baptist manual and the Word of God do not teach the same thing!!  Someone is wrong!!  Can you afford that to be you??  How will you be able to explain to the Lord WHY you chose to be baptized for a reason other that the “remission of sins”?!!  There are NO members of the Lord’s Church “caught in the brambles” of denominationalism!!  God wills that His people be exclusively different, unique, and Biblically confirmed, not just religiously, bathed!!  The Church has no value to Christ, unless it is uniquely made up of men and women who have obeyed Him!!  If the Church has NO value, how can you then have the un-mitigated gall to ask some man to give up their Church and join something of NO VALUE?? And Jesus would not have died for something of no value for which He gave His life’s blood!!

Do you think Christ is a polygamist?  How many wives do you think He has??  Since He married the Church of Christ when He died on Calvary’s tree by offering up the purchased price for her, when after His death would He have had time to marry another??  He had been planning His marriage to the Church of Christ for over 4,000 years, just how long was it that He planned for the denomination to which you belong??  Jesus Christ is like any kingly predecessor among the Jews in that He was married more than once.  That Passover He divorced His first wife in 33 D; 53 days later He married the Church!!

One and But One- Part 11

We started last week with the fact that limits and characteristics are what the definition of an individual has that distinguishes them from any other individual.  Fingerprints, teeth, leaves, trees, and many other things created by God have characteristics that are singularly definitive of one entity and but one!!  We also noted that things may be in the same category as other things but that does not make them the same.  They will always be what God’s laws of genetics made them to be!!   Men and women are in the category called human beings, but they are not necessarily interchangeable!! Being in the same category DOES NOT mean one is the other!!  Men and women have not the same sex, this makes the two separate and distinguishable.  The limits of each REAL THING SERVE TO EXCLUDE EVERY OTHER THING FROM ITSELF!!  These limits are definitions established by LAWS from the Creator and cannot change.  A man may have a sex change operation but still he is a man.  He may not respect who and what he is but still he is not and never will be a woman.  He may live all his life in falsity and deceit as to his gender, yet when they make out his death certificate, even if his body is so mutilated it is not recognizable, they will go to his dental records and fingerprints to satisfy his insurance company claim!! Denominationalism may look, sound like, talk like, be in the same category as, and have characteristics like that of the Church of Christ that Jesus brought into this world, but they will never be owned by Jesus Christ when comes back for His bride!!   Almost is not good enough, it has to be exact!!  The Baptist immerse, the Presbyterians may have elders, the Methodist may sing from a hymn book, and the Roman Catholic may have cite prayers BUT, although they are in the same category, may have the some of the identifying characteristics common with the Church of Christ to make them look similar; none of these are the Church of Christ found in the New Testament to whom Jesus Christ is married!!

To censure, hate, despise something just because it claims to be what you refuse to consider it to be, does not cease to make it exclusive!!  To refuse the fact that Jesus Christ is married to one bride and but one, that she is in a category called religion, and her communicants pray, sing ONLY in its assemblies, puts monies in an offering plate only on the first day of the week, and try to convert everyone they meet to the teachings of the Bible ALONE, DOES mean it’s teachings and practices are acceptable to God!!  This is what Christ brought the church into existence to do!!    This does not make members of the Church of Christ an enemy of a member of the Baptist, Methodist, R. Catholic, Jehovah Witnesses or any of the other 656 denominations in existence; but SOMEBODY has to at least admit all of these cannot all come FROM ONE BIBLE!!  If the Bible is what you are looking to follow, the ONLY Church named, described, talked about, that existed during the time the Bible was written is the Church of Christ!!  You may have thought the Roman Catholic church was the oldest church in existence but that is not true.  Catholicism did not begin until Constantine convened the Council of Nicene in 313 AD and placed himself in the position as papa (the Latin word Pope) over his brand new religious organization that came to be known as the Roman Catholic Church.  If you are looking for the doctrine, catechism, missiles or any other doctrine book of Catholicism don’t waste your time looking in the Bible, it is not there!!  The Bible went to press over 100 years before Constantine was ever heard of or from!!  Constantine could have read the Bible and found what he started was contrary to God’s Law if he had wanted to read the Bible, but he thought He was King.  Christ was never considered!!
