Legalism vs Liberalism Part 9

You have to watch the wording! For years liberals have been word wizards with people to hide their true beliefs. For faithful men to ask liberal preachers, “Do you believe the Bible is inspired?” the Liberal will readily respond with a positive answer, they really mean to satisfy you without really telling you what they truly believe. To them, the trick of the phrase is intended to end the discussion. They might mean the Bible is inspired, just like any other work is inspired. He has no thought that the Bible has been inspired by God. The faithful must go a little deeper. “Do you believe the Bible is inspired of God?” Again, the positive answer will be given. But again he does not mean the Bible is inspired word by word, just the overall teachings, but that the writers made mistakes and inserted their own opinions and errors because they were writing from memory. Their teaching finds the Bible no better than the false doctrine taught in denominationalism. Watch who they quote as authoritarians!!
To find out what they really believe, you must ask the right questions, and ask them in the proper order. On inspiration, you would have to ask: “do you believe the Bible is plenary, verbally, inspired Word of God?” If your questioning gets too involved with his personal faith, he will play the martyr and tell that you will misrepresent him. This will divert attention from the doctrinal question and make the true Christian feel badly about even asking about his faith at all! He will repeatedly affirm his good intentions without stating just what he believes. He cannot state his faithfulness by the Word and becomes indignant that anyone challenges his beliefs. He is what I call “a word wizard.”
Before you know it, they will declare you and those who believe the written Book a “cartel of radicals” who want to filter all that is done or taught in the church!! Of course, you have become the villain, the brother with an unkind spirit, who is challenging their faith!! Those of us who are now a “cabal of radicals” are the extremists on dogma and doctrine, and they are not willing to allow us “control” their faith. The question that has to come to our minds is “why do they want to teach non-biblical principles and false assumptions and stay in the Church of Christ?? What do they want from being in our midst? Sadly, they want to help us!! For they at one time were deceived by “well intentioned” men and they lost many a dear friend for standing up for the truth!! Vengeance!
To ignore the fact that we are to remain faithful to the Truth and allow someone to come along and introduce, teach false doctrine thinking we will lay our swords down, is an assumption we cannot allow anyone to make. Paul wrote Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:19 “Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.” To the Ephesians, he wrote: We cannot “have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Ephesians 5:11
Where do men get the idea they can “deny the Lord that bought them?” Christ declared His “Word would never pass away,” and men “would be judged by it,” John 12:48, so how can men who reject what Christ and His apostles taught, call themselves “Christians?” Before we take our case to the “approval seekers” in denominationalism, we must try it before the Grand Master, Jesus Christ! We have received “not the words which men speak” but the words of the Spirit of the Living God!! 1 Corinthians 2:12 Wrong is wrong even if it is commonly considered acceptable. The Bible says, “Thou shall not follow a multitude to do evil.” Exodus 23:2 We are not to “enter into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.” Proverbs 4:14 Wrong is wrong even if it does not bother our conscience. The conscience can be trained to accept wrong doing. Galatians 6:7 Wrong is wrong even if you do not get caught. “The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous.” 1 Peter 3:12, “beholding the evil and the good.” Proverbs 15:3 Wrong is wrong even if others are doing worse things!

Who Are the Jews? Defining Judaism Part 8

Israel is the name God gave Jacob on the night he wrestled with the Angel. Genesis 32:28 As a group, his sons along with the 12 tribes that descended from them inherited the name. Although Israel always accepted proselytes, it was at first largely made up of people physically descended from Abraham through Isaac and Jacob. Eventually, the term “Israelite” was replace by the term “Jew,” (Yahudi), derived from the kingdom of Judah (Yahuda), the southern Israelite kingdom that retained its independence for approximately 135 years after the Assyrians conquered the northern kingdom and took its leading citizens into captivity.
After the fall of the kingdom of Judah, Judaism (the Israelite religion) continued to be open to Gentile converts. The book of Esther mentions this and other references. During the third and second centuries BC, a group of Greek-speaking Hebrew scholars in Alexandria translated the Bible into Greek (Septuagint) so that it could be available in the common language of commerce and culture. Many apologies were written attempting to explain Israel’s faith. Tongues had ceased and the only communication from God to the world was through the translation of the writings of His Apostles. Many thousands of Gentiles who were converted to Judaism because Israel’s God offered a superior way of life and hope of resurrection. They wrote intertestamental books—including those in the Apocrypha, that described the superiority of their God. Some like the Edomites and Idumeans, were forcibly converted by Jewish rulers. There were about six million Jews throughout the Roman Empire when Jesus of Nazareth was born in Bethlehem of Judea, of whom a large proportion were returnees. When Christ appeared, many didn’t accept Him. John 1:10-14. Despite their pedigree, all Jews identified with the symbols and story of Israel and hoped that Messiah would come and initiate the longed-for days of blessing and restoration. When He came, they didn’t know Him!!
To argue that after the conquest of Jerusalem by Titus and the failure of the Bar Kokhba revolt, Jews altogether ceased to cultivate the land or Eretz (sand) of Israel is to demonstrate complete lack of understanding of these people. The Jewish farmer was not easily torn from his soil, which had been watered with the blood and sweat of his forebears. Despite depression and suffering, the rural population and people who lived there remained unchanged.
The Arabic-speaking Palestinian peasant is not a descendant of the Arab conqueror (Muslim) who captured Israel and Syria in the seventh century CE. The Arab conqueror did not destroy the agricultural population they found in the country. They expelled only the alien Byzantine rulers, and did not touch the local population nor did the Arabs go in for settlement. Even in their own homeland, the Arabians did not engage in farming. These Arabs did not seek new lands to settle their peasantry. Their interest was political, religious and material. They wanted to propagate Islam and to collect tax monies. The myth or romantic tale that the dominant group of modern Jews are uniquely the descendants of Abraham creates a tribal idolatry.
Although today’s Jews identify with Israel of the Old Testament, they are not uniquely the descendants of the patriarchs, and their rejection of Jesus has locked their focus on the tribal aspects of the Old Testament tradition while distancing themselves from the universal message of the Old Testament prophet. They have not “rights” to demand or “rights” to return in a genetic sense, displace or drive out its current inhabitants to establish a Jewish state. God gave them this land, once, now He owes them nothing!! I will prove the Jew and the Palestinean are really the same people!!

Liberalism vs Legalism Part 8

I am a legalist-I make no apology for it, even though theological sociologist call me a Pharisee, I believe that Jesus said: “this you should have done and not to have left the others undone.” The precision which originated the Bible should be treated with reverential fear. It was the Almighty sovereign God who gave it! Matthew 23:23 Christ quarrel with the Pharisees was because of their hypocrisy of God’s rules being bound on all but self and eviscerating the heart-the spirit-of the law in order to circumvent God’s intent and giving their ideas, validity. The Pharisees corollary evil was in presuming to be God, by binding rank opinions, not implications of Scripture, as law and gospel , more strongly than, the spiritual revelations. Their error was not in being doctrinally pure but in evading the law and so trying to mock God, the author of it!
When it comes to the word of God I am narrow-minded. It seems to me that I recall Jesus use of the word narrow in Matthew 7:14, when He said: “strait is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few there be that find it.” I don’t know how you can be so open-minded or broad-minded and travel on a narrow path!! That seems to me like an oxymoron.
I am against libertines when they embellish or diminish God’s word. The taking of indecent liberties with the revealed will of the Almighty is sin!! I am militant about it! I believe it has to be according to a book, chapter, and verse- written by inspiration of the Holy Spirit or nothing at all! “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ” nor is it baggage too heavy for me to carry. I have defended it in many instances and seek every opportunity that is available to me to do the same again. I pride myself in being eager to defend the gospel of Christ and bristle when those Christian brothers and sisters who should be the greatest helpers getting me to heaven throw up a caution flag for me to stop, that tell me I should use good sense and caution, consider other’s feelings, and try to drag me into the “grace-only gutter” with them! I am not interested in traditional barnyard philosophies dressed up in Sunday- go- to meeting easter egg hunts, or birthday celebrations of Christ!!
I am disturbed with all my liberal brethren can forgive everybody they disagree with on every error they face when dealing with those doctrinal liberals, can fellowship with every false denominational preacher in town, and participate in any feel-good religious exercise-but cannot fellowship me! I’m the one that is supposed to be unforgiving, unloving, unaware of God’s grace, and mean-spirited. It seems to me if they can forgive the failings of all others besides me, why do their tender hearts judge none but me? 2 Corinthians 5:11 If I know my heart, I’m more willing to extend what mercy and forgiveness is mine to extend, if only a man will repent and purpose to follow the gospel of Christ, and it alone. After all, it is upon the grace and mercy of heaven that I rest my eternal hopes! Ephesians 2:8; 4:31.
I am a legalist-I do not try to blur the line between rule-making and rule-keeping. I do not try to pray on an unsuspecting audience to teach them something that I know the word of God does not instruct them to obey. I feel it is my responsibility at any at all times to “speak where the Bible speaks,” quote what the Holy Spirit has had written, and live by the standards set by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I have no reason to follow a professor in a college, a desire to be well known, or keep my easy well-paying job just to make my situation in this life, comfortable!
I am a legalist-I do not allow the rapture, premillennialism, tongue speaking, nor the 1,000 year reign to go ignored. This is error!! I believe the Holy Spirit was right when He wrote through the apostle John: “if you bid them Godspeed, you are partakers of their evil deeds!

Who Are the Jews? Defining Judaism Part 7

It is God who has only ONE Son, this many forget. Abraham had 7 sons. To say that the Jew is the son of God today would be to declare that God could have TWO sons and that these two would be equal in nature and substance. They were and are not!!! It was the Son on whom the inheritance rested by law!! The secret of Abraham’s seed was parentage, not only the father but also the mother. The seed which was not one but two, remember Adam could not pro-generate before Eve came from his side!! Anyone forgetting Sarai leaves out half of the equation. Sara was pre-selected, chosen and was not a condition of AWKWARD circumstance!! Sara was a free-woman which meant she was of royal heritage. 1 Peter 2:9 The difference was that the bondwoman was born after the flesh, the free woman was born of promise, prophecy. In the course of nature all would consider Ishmael possible whereas in the course of nature NO ONE would consider Isaac natural. Isaac nor Christ were not in the usual manner, born. The Jew is born by natural law, not by the law of the Spirit!! Definitely shown in Galatians 4:22-26, Sara, because of circumstances not of her choosing cried out: “cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not heir with the son of the free.” These mothers were allegorical, figurative (meant to teach a greater lesson), type and anti-type. They were not just any two women that existed-remember nothing is said of Keturah who was also a wife of Abraham! Only Sarah and Hagar were meant to typify, pre-figure, or prophesy two different covenants. Hagar was the covenant which came from Sinai (called Agar by the Arabians of that time) and was intended to prefigure Jerusalem which is of, from, prefigured, prophesied as coming from physical means. The other was Jerusalem (the Church of Christ) which has existed from, prefigured, prophesied to have already existed in the mind of God in heaven, for God married her to His Son in eternity, NOT TIMe!! “Sing O barren (one), thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, that that didst not travail with child, for more are the children of the desolate that the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 54:1
We who are a part of the predetermined, prophesied church, like Isaac are apart of the predetermined, prophesied offspring, who depend on the Christ, not on the flesh!! They who were apart of the fleshly lineage depend on Isaac for their ancestry. Sarah was intended to prefigure Jerusalem which is from above. The Church of Christ came from the pre-existent abode of the Godhead and we became, in the state called marriage, Christians under the new and better dispensation of the covenant, which is, which can continue free from sin and the curse of the moral and ceremonial law, “as we walk in the Light.” 1 John 1:7-9 To this freedom and enlargement, which describes this gospel dispensation, typified by Sarah the mother of the promised seed, we have accepted Christ, and rely upon Him, and look for justification and salvation by Him ALONE, as hereby we become the spiritual, though we are not the natural, seed of Abraham, so we are entitled to the promised inheritance and have great interest in the blessings of that promise. They who are children of the King, who might stumble at the opposition one might meet with from the Jews, who were so tenacious of their law as to be ready to persecute those who would not submit to it, Paul tells us that this was pointed out in type; for”as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted Him that was born after the Spirit, we must expect it would be “so now.” So we would find comfort in the prophecies, we would know that Judaism would sink, and wither, and perish; but true Christianity should flourish and last forever!! TODAY, THERE ARE NOT TWO SONS!! The Jewish people as a whole never enjoyed the acceptance of the Father, only the association with the Son, never engaged the Holy Spirit in the trials of obedience and perfection, and made no claim on the heaven as the destiny of their souls.

Legalism vs Liberalism Part 7

Within the ranks of the Lord’s church, there are those who advocate that there is a definite distinction that is to be made between “gospel” and “doctrine.” It is contended that one preaches “gospel” to the unsaved and teaches “doctrine” to the saved and that this is irreversible, that is, you cannot preach the “gospel” to the saved, nor can one teach “doctrine” to the unsaved.
This theory is readily seen to be false and the ultimate consequences of it devastating when we study the Scriptures. According to the Scriptures, it is the gospel that was being preached to the Christian in Galatia! As far as can understand, the Galatians were “already” saved!! Was Paul expressing deep concern to these brethren, Galatians 1:6-9, about those who would preach the gospel, and not doctrine, than those with whom we have to deal in the arena of the mind to cause them “to be grounded in the most holy faith”? If he or she has been properly called by the gospel, he is to be often reminded about what “saved them”!! What was Paul doing preaching the gospel over and over again to the saved and not doctrine?? Issues like the use of instrumental music in our worship to God, premillennialism, tongues speaking and other teachings MUST BER exposed over and over again. The liberal might consider them matters of opinion, but these false doctrines/gospels undermine the verity of the Word of God! Those who accept these false theories with open arms have committed egregious error. So, our concern over this is well-founded and it is an issue to which we must turn our attention. I had an old preacher warn me in my youth that the church is “won or lost every Lord’s Day” and has to be reminded as to just what it IS!!
Truly, if one is a faithful Christian, he is to be accepted in full fellowship, even though we might differ with others on various matters of opinion. The problem is those who call things matters of opinion have their opinion being preached and not the doctrine of Christ! We never intend to make personal these issues, but matters of opinions are not substitutes for doctrinal discussions. That is, we must assigned ourselves to the task of showing what that the Bible describes as “righteousness” and not some influential brothers pet notion.
If is contended that we preach too much on the basic principles of salvation AFTER one has obeyed the gospel call and that there is a rigid distinction made between these two concepts what did Paul mean in Romans 16:25? Paul penned these words: “now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the ministry, which is kept secret since the world began.” Let’s ask some questions! Who was to be established? The Roman Christians. By what were they to be established? According to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ. When one preaches the gospel, he is not only preaching to the unsaved but the saved! Is it possible that the Holy Spirit did not know that there was a distinction?
If we do contend that the word gospel is used in a sense only to be taught alien sinners and doctrine is used only in the sense to be taught children of God then a new day has dawned in our understanding of the Scriptures. It was the same apostle Paul who wrote to the Church of Christ and Rome, Romans 1:16- “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God and the salvation to everyone that believers to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there in is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith.” May I ask what the righteousness of God might be? Whatever you may believe that it is, it was what Paul wanted to preach to the Church of Christ at Rome. In Acts 15:7: “And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up… the Gentiles by my mouth heard the word of the gospel, and believed.” Somebody is confused and it is not Peter!! The concepts are interchangeable!

Who Are the Jews? Defining Judaism Part 6

Israel is the name God gave part of Abraham’s seed, but not all. Abraham, after Sarah graduated, married again and fathered seven more children. Genesis 25:1-6 Nothing much is ever said about the sons and daughters of Abraham and Keturah. It is though in the minds of the world they did not and do not exist, yet they did. Of the sons of Abraham that get the status of important, the sons of Isaac were two, Esau and Jacob, while his first-born was Ishmael by Hagar.
As a group, Abraham’s sons by Sarah are the parents of our Lord Jesus Christ. They became known as the 12 tribes and that part of Abraham’s seed that gained the name, Israel. As a name, Israel is defined as God prevails. Everyone likes this name but when we follow the record of history, this was the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants that composed the northern kingdom consisting of the 10 tribes under Jeroboam. The southern kingdom was known as Judah and it retained its independence for approximately 135 years after Assyria conquered the northern kingdom and took its leading citizens into captivity. Everyone seems satisfied with the position of the pre-millenial denominational churches and seems to throw in the towel on other verses of scripture that seems to “muddy their waters.” In Esther 8:17 there occurs something very troubling. “In every province and city, wherever the king’s decree and command came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.” Where is the ancestral record? Who fathered these people? This is like taking in 100,000 Syrians into this country and thinking they will not affect our nation. Who are they, what do they believe, and what effect will their false religion have over our people???
Soon after the conversions described in Esther, Alexander the Great conquests established a common Hellenistic culture around the Mediterranean, exposing pagans to Jewish religion and lifestyle. Judaism became a vibrant missionary faith. Many thousands of Gentiles became God-fearers and converts. We have proof that the highest ranking Generals in the Roman army were believers BEFORE they heard of Christ. It was a death sentence for them to believe anything not taught in Rome. During the third and second centuries B C, a group of Greek-speaking Hebrew scholars in Alexandria translated the Old Testament into Greek called the Septuagint so that it could be available in the common language of commerce and culture. Philo and other Jewish apologists strove to explain Israel’s faith to the Gentile world. They wrote inter-testament books—including those in the Apocrypha—that described the superiority of their god. The proselytizing zeal of the Jews was still strong during Jesus ministry. Most Gentiles who converted to Judaism did so because Israel’s God offered both a superior way of life and the hope of resurrection. Some, like the Edomites and Idumeans, were forcibly converted by Jewish rulers. There were about 6 million Jews throughout the Roman Empire when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, of whom a large proportion were converts or descendants of converts who came from Babylonia. Regardless of their pedigree, all Jews identified with the symbols and story of Israel and hoped that Messiah would come to initiate the longed-for days of blessing and restoration. But when He appeared, many didn’t accept Him. John 1:10-14 Two thousand years have brought significant religious and demographic changes to non-Christian people who identify with the Hebrew tradition. Majority of the Jews in the Roman Empire probably converted to Christianity during the first five centuries following the official Jewish expulsion from synagogue worship. It is a common misunderstanding that following the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in the Jewish-Roman wars of AD 70 and AD 135 that the Jews were driven from their land and soil. Jews were farmers, people of the land AND DID NOT DISBURSE!! Just who or what is a Jew?

Legalism vs Liberalism Part 6

The importance of right-thinking is talked about in the Bible. Study together the following passages:
“as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”he honors me with his lips; but his heart is not with Me.” Proverbs 23:7. It has been said that “we may not be everything we think we are; but what we think, we are!” A wise man once said; “a man is what he thinks about all day long.” It is often been heard in the same fashion when men say: “you are what you eat.” The Bible says, “you are what you think.”
“A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” Matthew 12:35 The word heart, in this passage, means mind. The good man is able to bring forth good things because he has a good treasure, that is a right-thinking mind. The evil man brings forth evil things because he has an evil treasure, that is a wrong thinking mind. All our actions have as their origin, the thoughts of our mind. If we think right, we do right: if we think wrong we do wrong.
Paul writes:” let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that he may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:6 Through the years we’ve heard many fine messages concerning the purity of speech, morally and doctrinally. There was a time, it seems, when brethren had far more concern with their manner of speech: concerned that there be no uncertain sound given in their messages—then we find today. In our time, a man can think the most foolish, divisive and unscriptural statements, greatly damaging to the truth, and of the kingdom, and if someone dares speak against him, there is a great rush to defend the person whom they think is “picked on.” Sound men are called mean, vicious and judgmental in daring to rebuke such dangerous speech. The question is never asked from whence or by what authority did their message emanate?
Often times, we are hearing and reading pure sectarianism from our pulpits and in our papers. Some of our preachers and teachers are not sound enough in the faith to study from those who were members of the body of Christ before them. They run great links to read from sectarian volumes, from men who never found out enough about Christ to become a Christian or a child of God, and are yet quoted as authority. There is no question that there is wisdom in men who are not Christians but in following the sacred book it would seem wise and sound to at least have the record of a man’s obedience to the gospel if you put such trust in his exegesis of a verse of Scripture!! We need to pour over the Divine Volume to find out what God said on a given subject, and less concerned about what Doctor ? has taught or said. May we be anxious to fill our sermons with citations from the Bible, and be content with biblical language instead of bending over backward to try to quote someone who is not even a member of the body of Christ. We need to speak simply New Testament lingo, as Paul wrote Titus: “sound speech, that cannot be condemned.” Titus 2:8 Those who try to be novel and shocking to the brethren, need to labor to see how true they can be to the Bible, and how scriptural they can be in the use of terminology and expression.
Sympathy will not replace truth. If a man enters the pulpit and uses language, teaches doctrine that is not found in the Scriptures the word of God, he needs far more than sympathy, he needs loving instruction. Sympathy for these brethren will not help them. They entered the pulpit intending to say what they said, and there is no excuse for coming forth with uncertain sounds. The idea of allowing people to do wrong because you feel sorry for them is not a tenant of New Testament doctrine but a present context of liberalism that denies the truth of the word of God!

Who Are the Jews? Defining Judaism Part 5

There is a disease among the peoples of religion, today. The festivals of the Jews are soon to march upon us one after the other and in quick succession; the feast of Trumpets, the feast of Tabernacles, the fasts. There are many in our ranks who say they think as the Scriptures teach, yet some are going to join the Jews in keeping their feasts and observing their fasts. I am afraid that some Christians may partake in the Jews transgressions, once they have done so, the message of Christ will have become useless for the remedy. There is a danger in keeping “days, and months, and times and years.” Galatians 4:10
The question of the hour is “what charge do they yet make?” That He called God His own Father and so made Himself equal to God is a liar?? It has been observed that they not only refute this truth, they even blot out the phrase “equal to God” from their writings and what it canotes, for they resolve to reject it even if they do not physically erase it!!
So many blessings from heaven came into their hands, they thrust them aside and were at great pains to reject them. The morning the Son of Justice arose from their own land, they began to thrust aside the rays of truth and stay sitting in darkness by selection, not debate. We, who were nurtured by darkness, drew the light to ourselves and were freed from the gloom of error. They, who were the race of men chosen to bring Light into the world have been broken off. Romans 11:17 We had no share in the “root and offspring of David,” but we did reap the fruit of godliness when they refused it. From their childhood they read the prophets, but they crucified Him whom the prophets had foretold! They are to be pitied, we have worshipped Him who the divine prophets told would come. Although those Jews had been called to the adoption of sons, they fell to kinship with dogs: we who were children of darkness received the strength, through God’s grace, to put aside the irrational nature which was ours and to rise to the honor of sons. It was Christ who said; “it is not fair to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs.” Matthew 15:27
When the order was changed: they became dogs, and we became the children. Philippians 3:2 You might want to see who and what changed? “but to as many as received Him, He gave the power of becoming sons of God.” John 1:10-12
Nothing is more miserable than those people who never failed to attack their own salvation!! When there was need to observe the Law, they trampled it under foot. Now, that the Law has ceased to bind, they obstinately strive to observe it, or something a facsimile of it written by men, called the Torah!! Stephen rails on them when he said: “you stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart, you do always resist the Holy Spirit”, not only be transgressing the Law but also by wishing to observe what you call a Law at the wrong time.!! Stephen was right, for they failed to take up the yoke of Christ, although it was sweet and had nothing about it which was either burdensome or oppressive. Matthew 11:28-30 They even went to the extreme when they cried out: “we have no king but Caesar.” They broke the yoke, they burst the bounds, they cast themselves against the kingdom of Heaven, and made themselves subject to the rule of men. Note with me how accurately the prophet hinted that their hearts were uncontrolled: “you set aside the yoke, broke it like untamed beasts.”Isaiah 9:4 Untamed beasts are not fit for honor!!
They say that they love God; Christ disagrees. “If you knew the Father, you would also know Me. But you neither love Me, nor do you know My Father.” How could they know the Father and crucify His Son?? Tell me, you that apologize for speaking the truth, if you saw man dragged through the streets to execution, would you not risk your life to stand in His defense? Do armies fight for their Commander?

Legalism vs Liberalism Part 5

On Sunday mornings, the liberal preacher preaches to the audience made up of some of the biggest sinners in town, and never thinks that it is his job to help these people save their souls. He does not care, for these are the ones who wield the greatest influence in town. Instead of taking a stand for the truth, when it would cost him his nice new parsonage, gas allowance, and six weeks paid vacation; these brethren “play straddle the fence” while the church is polluted and corrupted. When the Devil moves in, the church blows up, and God’s people finally get their eyes opened and move out! The picture of the popular church is seen when the Devil is seen laughing on one side of the fence as he steals God’s sheep and the Lord stands on the other side saying, “cry aloud and spare not.” This preacher looks to his community popularity as he is labeled man of the year or “easy to get along-with.” The Chamber of Commerce praises him for his freedom from bigotry and his broad views. He speaks learnedly and dabbles and babbles in antithetical fields and on occasion, when no dissenters are present, he touches lightly upon some phrase of the gospel. He never mentions Hell. Doctrines against damnation that Jesus preached is out of date and too old- fashion for him. He denies God His justice and wrath as he speaks on God’s mercy, grace and love… And the people love it!! Every service, when the invitation is extended (if it is), nobody ever expects someone to come forward to repent. He lays awake at night trying to figure out how to label differences between right and wrong as “non-essential distinctions” and of “no vital importance.” Unfortunately, sinners confess Christ without having repented, they are baptized in water in a form of mockery and naturally are born dead. New Testament Christianity is of no concern. The worshipper is never introduced to the love that Christ had for His church!
When they advise young preachers, they’d tell them to preach carefully because they don’t want to hurt their position or standing with the eldership, who must a weak on “the issues.” The apostle Jude’s warning to “earnestly contend for the faith” is seen as something that fits another time and another era. Unlike the apostle Jude, some of our brethren are not really sure what that faith is-they’re still trying to make up their minds. A definition of the gospel of Christ to them, is preaching to avoid hurting the feelings of the elders wife’s parents who are not members of the body of Christ, unfortunately, they will not learn it here. If we all went to a doctor concerning health and we ran into a doctor with the same direction in mind, how long do you think we could live under his care? Yet, some of our brothers and sisters seem determined to try to face all odds, fight all obstacles, and attempt to be a savior in a congregation that hasn’t been composed of the saved for a long time, now! He’s like a man with water in the boat, staying in the water, never jumping to safety, he stays in the boat with a teacup emptying the water as fast as he can, thinking that he can save the boat, himself, and his family that attend there! All of us know the end result of the guy in that boat but it’s a shame there’s one person who doesn’t know the outcome and that is the Christians sitting in the pew with all that danger surrounding them, yet is not told in advance the preacher’s intent, without his approval.
Poison can be administered that condemns the soul in many ways. One of the surest ways to leave man condemned is to poison God’s Holy Book. Obviously, a translation that sounds foreign and different and has not had much research done to establish its credibility, is key. How gullible people are when the version of the Bible, or a perversion, is used instead of one that is exacting and demanding? To wrest the Scriptures, to twist, to torture or to turn the minds of the student comes without effort. Never fear my friend, the modern translations are used for a reason and it is up to you and I to love God enough to demand His word or absent ourselves from that assembly!!

Who Are the Jews? Defining Judaism Part 4

It is time for us to learn a little more about Herod, the Great. He was known as “the madman who murdered many priests and his own family, including his wife,” “the evil genius of the Judean nation,” “and the greatest builder in Jewish history.” He was a loyal supporter of Hycrannus II and was named King (basileus) of Judea by Mark Antony. He had to win his throne by waging a 3 year war against Antigonus. He was married to one of Hycrannus’s daughters (whom he later killed), who also was an Hasmonean. He was a convert to Judiasm, an Edomite by ancestry, and brought many priests from Babylon intermixing them with the Jewish priests and their doctrines. His leadership of the Jewish religion was greatly questioned by the Jewish priesthood as he paid for his embellishments by exorbitant taxes which did not go to pay for the operation of the Temple of Jerusalem. He had no loyalty to Moses or that law and like other presidents, some of which we have today, feigned faith in what he did not believe. Interestingly, while Herod was re-building the Temple, he would accept no help from the Pharisees or Sadducees nor the doctors of the Law—he “did it his way.”
In Matthew 2:1-23 Herod is shown to be the King who became known for the “Massacre of the Innocents.” Alarmed at a replacement to his throne, Herod assembled the chief priests and scribes of the people and demanded to know where the Christ child was to be born after he had been informed by the Magi of His birth. They told him, Bethlehem (unlike Joseph Smith of the Mormon religion who said Christ was born in Jerusalem) It is interesting that no other external historical record is given of the “massacre” other than the Bible, yet not question, it is the reason why, in a dream, Joseph, on his return from Egypt, settled in Nazareth (to stay clear of Herod’s son who had been assigned to reign after Herod’s death). Herod killed himself. He always had had trouble with paranoia and depression. After his death, Archelaus was named king but was considered by Rome too incompetent to rule and was replaced by a Roman prelate until 43 A D.. That is how we got Pilate.
The Jewish religion was and is in a mess. After the return from Babylon and the lack of a prophet to give religious guidance, their religion was a combination of what most think of Christianity—a mixture of what they remembered, what they had practiced in Babylon in paganism, and what they added for the convenience of themselves. The priesthood had inter-married with pagans and serious consideration to “being of Aaron’s family” was not considered since none could oblige that were in power. There was a rabid attempt among all the Jews to trace their ancestries back to Jacob for pedigree. Any man who could was known by the title “Hebrew of the Hebrews” and was automatically given a place of supreme honor among the people. This explains the two chapters in the preamble to the ancestoral records of the Christ! One can understand why they who had this ability were immediately enemies of those who could not!! Like Herod, they great cause to destroy their qualified competitor, especially if they, like our Lord was able to “divide the sheep from the goats.” John 8:44
The peaching of Christ is pretty simple: “He that is of God hears God’s words. You therefore hear them NOT, because you ARE NOT OF GOD.” John 8:47 “Jesus answered them, ‘ I told you, and you believed not: the works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you believe NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT OF MY SHEEP, as I said unto you. John 10:25-26 Christ taught in many places in parables. The words of our Lord were not for ALL men. To His disciples He said: “unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: but to them it is not given.” Matthew 13:11 “All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables: and without a parable spake He not unto them.” Matthew 13:34
